The Visit in The Villages

Kevin and Theresa were excited to see Glorianna(kevin’s mom) & Torreen(kevin’s sister) at the Harbor Chase Assisted Living Facility.

Familiar faces greeted them at the reception as they passed thru the well decorated hall ways and made their way to the Glo-Torr apartment. Reunion kisses and hugs were exchanged and all was well. Glorianna was just recently released from 2 hospital stays for pneumonia, she was week a but recovering. Yeah! Torreen was helping her mom keep the O2 supplied between bingo and other organized activities. It was great to see those 2 faces!

The daily routine quickly formulated into a flexible schedule for Kevin & Theresa which went something like:

  • Up by 8ish,
  • Coffee & triage email, Facebook & news
  • 2 hours of Pickleball
  • 40 min for Theresa’s exercise commitment (50 burpees and Beachbody On Demand workout) in the parks very dated exercise room
  • Lunch in the RV or at one of the favorite dig Americana
  • Visit with Glorianna & Torreen from 2-5pm with Bingo, Games like pass the pig and LCR and Happy Hour with Other residents
  • Back to the RV by 5:30 to prep dinner (normally something on the grill), eat and relax a bit
  • Then repeat for the nearly 30 day stay!
Some deviations included one bike ride of a mere 18 miles with a lunch stop! And a lunch visit with Theresa’s cousin Lynn to catch up on her adventure and future plans.

The RV’s washer/ dryer was exercised every 3-4 days doing 2 loads each time. Theresa was pleased not ot have to drag bags of dirty cloths to the laundromat and was very satisfied with how well the RV appliances worked! The dishwasher too was used nearly daily with no issues.

One day Kevin tried to deploy the door awning, he could hear the motor click but the awning would not extend. This item was added to the punch list.

The Pickleball group had some familiar faces from prior visits and maintained a friendly welcoming attitude! Kevin and Theresa played well most days and had lots of fun everyday with this group!

Glorianna had recovered a bit and was able to get out of the room for dining and participate in some of the social events at the facility. She especially enjoyed the musical entertainment that came into the facility several times a week. Kevin & Theresa also were tapped to star in a Murder mystery that was performed during the residence dinner.

Thanksgiving day meal was with the ladies at the facility and included all the traditional fare.

The goodbye hugs and kisses were exchanged after a final round of Pass the Pig and LCR, insuring a return in March of 2018. Then it was off to prep for an early exit on Black Friday.

The 12 Tireminder sensors for the RV & Toad were installed and set up so that all tire pressure and temp could be monitored.

Bikes and rack were put back, airplanes stored in the hanger, wheels , and other covers removed, chairs & grill stored and rug folded and stored.

The borrowed WiFi box was returned to the office and the deposit for the March reservation was made for the selected site. All set to depart!

The exit strategy was to make the sharp wide swing around a 90 corner and hook up in a bus parking area. The turn from the site went as planned, but as the Smitanic made the sharp turn on the road a van came from the opposite direction challenging the Smitanic like a row boat challenging an ocean liner. The rowboat gave way a bit leaving the Smitanic to narrowly miss a fire hydrant on the curve. The Toad was reattached and lights and breaks as well as Toad’s steering ability validated as part of the normal departure check.

The third phase of the trip was underway with sights on the left coast.
